Rote or Written
It’s subtle. Daily mindsets and rote repetitions draw us down a path of speaking truth unattached to love and faith. When today’s opportunity finds us listening to friends, family and strangers share their need of breakthrough, a well-meant truism may leap from our lips; such as, “With God, nothing will be impossible.” It is often said with hope it will shatter the impasse of their plight, and everything will be just fine.
Surely, “It is written . . .” could preface the quote just delivered. But did it carry the weight of faith? Did it bear the authority of one who has conquered some level of doubt and unbelief? Moreover, was the response about what is known or what is believed?
What we know will not have the same measure of fruit of that which we believe. Knowledge is the seedbed of truth. “I believe” is the germination moment when knowledge splits open and grows toward a fruit-filled way of life and our Father’s pleasure adds the fragrance of anointing to our encounters with others and the assignments given us.
Faith activates our Father’s pleasure and brings fruit to all He has given us to do and to pray.
